On the twelfth day of Christmas, your wallet will definitely be singing the blues and you’ll be stuck eating two-minute noodles for dinner!

Why? Because if you were planning on gifting your loved one all the presents from that famous carol, it will set you back a jaw-dropping AUD $75,985 this year.

The Partridge in a Pear Tree saw the biggest price jump in 2024, up 16%, now costing a hefty AUD $570. While the bird’s price stayed steady, the tree is rooting deeper into wallets this year!

So it turns out that giving your true love all 12 gifts is 5.4% pricier this year. Which is more than double last year’s 2.7% increase.

“Believe it or not, we’re still seeing the cause and effect of the pandemic-inflation hangover, even nearly five years later,” wrote Amanda Agati, a chief investment officer, in PNC’s release.

So, if you were hoping to impress your loved one with golden rings and partridges in pear trees, you might want to reconsider.
