New state of the art machinery will enhance waste management in Livingstone Shire.
A new 26-tonne BOMAG compactor at the Yeppoon landfill site will improve compaction efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and optimising site operations.
Mayor Adam Belot says it’s great news for the region.
“Effective compaction is essential for maximising available space, ensuring site stability, and minimising the environmental footprint of landfill operations,” Mayor Belot said.
“The BOMAG compactor is a purpose built compactor for landfill operators.”
Local Authority Waste Management Advisory Committee (LAWMAC) member and Councillor Rhodes Watson highlighted the compactor’s productivity benefits.
“The BOMAG compactor is designed for high efficiency, capable of covering up to 2,000–3,000 square metres per day, depending on waste type and compaction needs,” Cr Watson said.
“This means we can process large volumes of waste faster, leading to optimised fill rates, and more efficient site management.”
The BOMAG compactor is equipped with real-time monitoring systems that track machine performance, fuel consumption, and compaction efficiency.
