It’s been a busy 24 hours for the local rescue helicopter, airlifting two women to Rockhampton Hospital after separate incidents.
The RACQ CapRescue chopper was called out at 8.30am yesterday to a property west of Banana, to assess a woman with a suspected broken leg.
It’s believed she had been working on a farm when she fell from her motorbike.
An RACQ CapRescue spokesperson says she was stabilised for flight and airlifted in good spirits.
After midday, the helicopter was called to a second patient who needed treatment after a snorkelling incident at Lady Elliot Island.
The woman in her 60s, who was part of a larger group, had left the water when she reportedly began to experience altered states of consciousness.
A doctor, who was a part of the group, treated her until the helicopter arrived.
Onboard crews then stabilised her and flew her to Rockhampton Hospital for further assessment.
